DSC_0047Introducing…our newest member of the team, Ruth Ann Smillie!

Smillie siblingsOur new baby girl joined us just before noon on August 6 (which is the excuse I’m using for the lack of blog content recently :D). The birth went perfectly, different and yet the same as the three before her. She has been welcomed by enthusiastically loving arms of her siblings (they’re just about loving her to pieces!) and has been such a joy.

We are so incredibly thankful for this new little bundle. And, now that she’s here (and we are sleeping again! YAY!) you’ll see some more fun things around here. So much to share! So many new things in the shop! And perhaps even a giveaway in the near future. :)

I’m so happy to be back blogging again, sharing thoughts, ideas and updates with you lovelies,

crafting for a baby

crafting for a baby

Crafting for a sweet new baby is always a joy! A few weeks ago I had the privilege of making this entirely custom, delicate name banner for my precious new niece, and I had so much fun. Her mama is decorating the baby Cora’s new space in blush and glittery gold, so I even got to use some of my current favorite papers. :)a personalized name banner for a baby - perfect for both a baby shower and a birthday party! | the Path Less Traveled

Her mama is decorating the nursery for this babe in gold and pink, so I had a ton of fun making a sweet, girly and glittery name banner for baby Cora using some of my favorite papers and ribbons. I went with scalloped circles in a vintage rose print for the background and gold glitter for the letters, all strung on a light rose satin ribbon. So feminine, and suitable for both a baby and a growing girl.

I am experimenting in making our the name banners in our shop in this double-layered look, and enjoyed doing the same for little Miss Cora, giving her special garland an extra bit of style and texture. The glitter gold played so beautifully off of the vintage rose print!

These multilayered banners are something I love making, and there are so many options!!! We are planning to add a variety of them to the shop in the next little while, and are just having a bit of trouble deciding exactly which options to offer {there are soooooo many!}. If you have something in mind that you’d like to see, we’d love to hear about it. :)

What do you think? Would you like to see more of this rich, layered look in our pieces? I’d love to hear!

customer love – a gorgeous baby shower for twins!

customer love – a gorgeous baby shower for twins!

A few months back I was contacted by a woman who was throwing a baby shower for her friend who was having twins {a boy and a girl!}. She wanted the colors to be gender neutral {but not boring}, and our Navy, Mint, Coral, Cream and Gold Confetti Garland caught her eye. She loved the colors, and had a few ideas of other things to add to round out the decor she had in mind. But first Andrea had one important request – the decorations had to be in Texas by the following Saturday. Wow-ee! I was in love with the idea, though, and we made it happen. :)Navy, Mint, Coral and Gold Pinwheels on the Path Less Traveled Andrea wanted a bunch of paper pinwheels in a variety of sizes, and in colors to coordinate with the garland. I had been wanting to make some for a while {have you seen the pins of some of the lovely pinwheels floating around Pinterest? Soooo gorgeous!} and was delighted to have a good excuse to learn how!Navy, Mint, Coral and Gold Pinwheels on the Path Less Traveled Navy, Mint, Coral and Gold Pinwheels on the Path Less Traveled Navy, Mint, Coral and Gold Pinwheels on the Path Less Traveled Navy, Coral and Gold Pinwheels on the Path Less Traveled Navy, Coral and Gold Pinwheels on the Path Less Traveled Mint, Coral and Gold Pinwheels on the Path Less Traveled Everything got made up quickly and shipped in time to arrive with a day or two to spare {I love FedEx!!!!}. Afterward the tea party, Andrea sent me these photos of how everything came together:A modern baby shower for twins (and boy and girl!) on the Path Less Traveled She threw a gorgeous affair, didn’t she? I love how Andrea used the garland as a front drape for the buffet table – it added such a classic, elegant feel to the party!delightful cupcake with a modern twistShe requested some custom cupcake toppers in mint and coral, and once they arrived she paired them with these lovely navy blue cupcake wrappers for a clean and elegant look. {if you’d like to achieve a similar look for an event, we have since added cupcake wrappers to our shop!}a cream tea baby shower in vibrant modern colors - perfect for boy and girl twins!a shower for boy and girl twins

Andrea, the party was absolutely gorgeous. Thank you so much for allowing to share in the joy of the occasion us by sharing the photos, and blessings to the new mama and babies!

customer love – Winter ONEderland Birthday edition!

Do you remember the custom snowflake cake garland I posted the other day?custom snowflake topper {and an update!}It was part of a batch of things I put together for a darling “Winter ONEdarland” themed first birthday, and I was so excited to open the email full of photos that the mama sent after the party! Look at how darling it was!!! a darling Winter ONEderland Birthday drink table and party decor ideas | The Path Less Traveled MarketThe colors she used were pink, blush, cream, white, glitter gold and aqua. Jaclyn emailed asking if the Confetti Circles Garland‘s colors could be tweaked a tad (my answer – “of course!”), and from there we added some Large Snowflake Garlands, a few custom garlands that were a combination of the two others (love this idea! and when I get a free day or two I might add a version to the shop – they’re so sweet!)

Winter ONEderland Birthday party ideas! | The Path Less Traveled MarketFor the cake topper, Jaclyn had the idea of combining two of the Snowflake Dessert Toppers with a mini version of the Confetti Circles Garland and the result (again!) was absolutely gorgeous and had me wondering why I hadn’t added something like it to the shop already. Amazing job Jaclyn! I love everything about this! :)

weekly shop update

weekly shop update

So, the weekly shop updates haven’t quite as weekly as I had planned. :)
But then, I’ve been a bit busy with other things!

The other day I took advantage of a certain baby girl sleeping and made up (and listed – such a feet to get both things done on the same afternoon right now!) some snowflake and Christmas-ey things that I’ve had in my head for a while. :)

Here are a few photos and links to them – there’s still time to place an order to enjoy them this Christmas!

The snowflake chair garland – to coordinate with the 10-foot snowflake garland

Christmas Star Cupcake toppers – the idea for these came while we were driving just before Thanksgiving and saw the neighbors’ lights. One of the decorations was a star that had the word “JOY” in the middle … and I knew I needed to make something out of it. :)

Snowflake Cake/Pie toppers (or you can use them as wands for little ones pretending to be snow fairies!)

Merry and Bright cupcake toppers

So, there you have it! 4 new items and one more week to place an order to enjoy them. :) And there’s still a few more things I wanted to make for the shop this Christmas …
Oh well! Here’s to enjoying our sweet, darling baby girl and celebrating the wonder of our Savior’s birth with Em and Ian.

What are your plans for celebrating with your loved ones?

announcing …

announcing …

Happy Sunday everyone!

I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving celebrating your blessings! We celebrated by finally welcoming Baby (thank You, Lord!) into our family on Friday morning:

– Olivia Jane –
6:47 am
8 lbs, 4 oz, 20 1/2″ long

Everything went really well! We delivered at home and it may have been our best birth yet – only 5 1/2 hours from when I woke up I was holding her in my arms. :)

I’ll be adding lots more photos of our new darling on Instagram (you can follow me here). We love her so much already!

My sister is helping keep the shop up while I’m recovering and soaking in Olivia, so remember to stop by early tomorrow morning for your Cyber Monday coupon codes! The link will be here and on the facebook page so you won’t miss it :)

her own blankie {and burp cloths, too!}

her own blankie {and burp cloths, too!}

I’ve made up a baby blanket for both Emma Grace and Ian using the Scallop Quilt “pattern” from Bend-the-Rules Sewing by Amy Karol, and so of course I wanted to make one for Baby, too. :)

I’ve been making up the “just for her” things in shades of gray and pink, and was able to find some lovely polka dot gray quilting flannel and pink and gray paisley cotton at JoAnn. I love how they complement each other, sweet and feminine without being too babyish.

I machine quilted a few of the center paisleys to provide a bit more definition. I love how it looks …. maybe I should quilt a few more of them? :)

Now, after having 2 babies, we have plenty of burp cloths. But there were some fabric scraps left over from the blankie …. and I had a few plain diapers left …. and Baby #3 needs to have something special, too, right?

This vintage lace was a gift from one of my lovely customers – who just happens to live in France. :) Fun!
I sewed it over some gray grosgrain, which I then layered over some pink satin to get the look I was going after.

And there you have it – a bit of a layette for Baby.

Remember to stop by the Facebook page next Monday morning to get the sale code!

And have a lovely, relaxing Thanksgiving!

Two Cute Boutique

Two Cute Boutique

Have you heard of the Etsy shop Two Cute Boutique?

Last week she contacted me asking if I’d like to trade a couple of garlands for a crocheted hat … and once I saw her shop I knew I had to say yes! It’s just adorable!

She made up a cotton newborn size hat for Baby, including a detachable flower and headband so that I can mix and match with her different little outfits. So sweet!
If you’d like to get one (or more?) for your own little sweetheart you can find a gorgeous selection at this link here – enjoy!
